World Childhood Foundation
The social and financial poverty of children regards all of us, as children are our future. In this conviction, Queen Silvia of Sweden founded the World Childhood Foundation together with 14 other founders in 1999. The aim of the foundation is to improve the life conditions of vulnerable, deprived and exploited children worldwide and to boost suitable aid projects. These are geared to the local culture and the needs of the society. The World Childhood Foundation gets involved with its four foundations in Sweden, Brazil, the USA and Germany and boosts for the spread, execution and compliance of the children's rights worldwide. The UN Convention on the Rights of Children was accepted in 1989 by the United Nations and took effect in 1990, after the ratification of the member states. All girls and boys should get the chance to develop into self-confident people. They have a right on childhood.
