Plan ensures the sustainable water supply for children and their families in the programme area of Amhara (Lalibela) and improves the hygiene situation. In total, around 20,000 people can be reached with this project. Furthermore, the children's aid organisation supports infrastructure measures in the highlands of Ethiopia as well as trainings for all people affected. Plan and the local project partners will order a hydrographic expertise. Especially, the access to clean water and sanitary facilities shall be improved with the Plan project. The current situation has fatal consequences, especially for girls and women and people with disabilities. Traditionally, the femamle family members have to care for the water supply. But the ways to the nearest wells are often far. Because of the huge distances and the waiting time, they lose a lot of time and the role allocation prevent mostly girls from attending school. Plan wants to change this with the project in Amhara and wants to fight against these grievances.
